William Hill is one of the grandfathers of online casino. Founded in 1998 and with a presence in the gambling industry stretching all the way back to 1934, you won’t find many casinos with more experience in the industry.

It hasn’t all been plain sailing though, with William Hill facing its share of trials and tribulations over its long history (click here to find out more).

Read on to find out what we thought of the casino offerings from the biggest betting company in the UK.

Bonuses and Promotions

William Hill offers just the one new-customer bonus for those looking to sign up for the casino:

  • 100%  Buy in Bonus up to £300
  • Daily buy-in with £25, play with £35
  • Bonus must be wagered 40x before a withdrawal

It’s a decent enough offer – nothing ‘rub your eyes’ special, but worth going for if you do want to join, though keep an eye on that wagering requirement. Anything else?

William Hill does offer ‘mini-bonuses’, like free spins on a certain game, relatively regularly.

Games

With around 150 games on offer from a range of providers including NetEnt and Microgaming, William Hill has a smaller selection than the majority of the dedicated online casinos out there. Considering the caliber of the providers, however, the games they do have are of an overall high standard.

Favorites include:

  • Age of the Gods
  • Wild Gambler
  • Buffalo Blitz

There’s also a variety of table games to choose from, which, while not as extensive as some, should still satisfy the majority of gamers. Are there any live games?

William Hill offers a handful of live games, including classics such as Roulette and Blackjack. The live casino room is open 24/7, which is nice for gamers who keep unusual hours. How about mobile?

You’ll find most of your favorite William Hill games on the mobile-friendly website, which is well thought out and runs smoothly.

Payments

William Hill supports pretty much every type of deposit/withdrawal method you can think of.

Deposits and withdrawals at William Hill:

Any small print? William Hill has uncapped withdrawals, so if you win big you don’t have to drip-feed your winnings in installments. As for timelines:

EWallets are quickest (0-24 hours), and cheques are slowest (7-10 days).

Now we aren’t sure how many people request cheques when making withdrawals these days, but the turnaround time here blows most of the competition out of the water. It isn’t all good here though:

The pending time of 1-3 business days on withdrawals is a good deal longer than many of William Hill’s competitors, meaning you may have to wait a while before you can get your hands on any winnings, especially if you gamble towards the end of the week.

Support

William Hill offers the standard selection of support options, available 24/7, including: Live chat, UK toll-free phone, online contact form and email. Overall user reports around support are pretty poor, with users complaining of long wait times and inadequately trained staff. From such a big firm, we really would expect better here.

Conclusion

William Hill enjoys excellent brand recognition and long track record in the industry, particularly in the UK, but is their online casino any good?

Well, as you’d expect from one of the biggest players out there, William Hill provides a slick, well-put-together environment for online gamblers. The casino UI is great and the website responsive. It’s a very professional package, and a joy to use.

It’s also nice to see such a broad selection of withdrawal and deposit options to choose from for those who use some of the less common methods. But beyond that, it’s hard to find much to shout about. Why?

william hill review
The selection of games is very small compared to most online casinos, and though there are some good options to choose from, those who like to spin a lot of different wheels may be left disappointed.

Sign-up bonuses are good but not spectacular, and while the support offering is solid in terms of the various avenues available to customers, we’ve seen too much negative feedback on the quality of support provided for our tastes.

William Hill isn’t a terrible place to gamble by any means, there just aren’t many reasons to recommend it above some of the more exciting options out there. We won’t tell you to stay away, but we also won’t tell you to rush out and make yourselves an account. Anything else?

It’s worth pointing out that there are a fair number of restricted territories here, including Belgium, Denmark, France, Portugal, Spain and the USA. Check the table below if you’re thinking of signing up and aren’t sure whether your country is on the restricted list.

What We Loved

  • Excellent presentation, including on mobile
  • Stable gaming experience
  • Great deposit and withdrawal options

What We Didn’t Like

  • Limited territories available
  • Not enough games for some
  • Widespread negative feedback around support

Summary

William Hill Casino presents a really slick online experience, including on mobile, but with a small selection of games and nothing unique to help it stand out from the crowd, we didn't rate this online casino that well.
