Casino Mate was founded in 2011 with the aim of capturing the Australian online gaming market. The site aesthetic is green and yellow, and you’ll find Australian slang sprinkled liberally throughout. The slot games are even known as ‘pokies’, which is a uniquely Aussie term.
Originally a Microgaming powered casino, changes to Aussie gambling laws over the past couple of years have seen Casino Mate switch things up, introducing several other providers after Microgaming games became unavailable to players from Australia.

Bonuses and Promotions
Casino Mate offers a combination of several matched deposits and additional free spins for their new customer promotion.
- Casino Mate will match your first 4 deposits up to a total of €1400 as follows:
- 1st deposit – 100% up to €200
- 2nd deposit – 50% up to €300
- 3rd deposit – 50% up to €400
- 4th deposit – 50% up to €500
- 20 free spins applied to each of the 4 qualifying deposits
- Minimum deposit of €20
- Bonus must be wagered 50x before withdrawal – game weightings apply
- Bonus cash expires after 30 days
- Cash won from free spins must be wagered 50x before a withdrawal
- Maximum win from bonus €5000 (excluding progressives)
As you can see, this is a fairly complex new customer promotion, with plenty of small print to think about.
So, is it any good?
On the plus side, players are rewarded across multiple deposits, with both bonus cash and free spins to be had. However, we find it a little difficult to get behind any promotion with such high wagering requirements – 50x is an awful lot.
Well, we’re talking €70,000 for players who claim the maximum bonus of €1400. That’s some serious cash by anyone’s standards. Added to that, the imposed limit of €5000 winnings on bonus cash is also very disappointing – if you’re wagering these kinds of amounts, it seems reasonable to expect the chance of bigger wins than that.
As we often find ourselves saying, this promotion feels more like a flashy headline figure than a really great bonus. €1400 is a lot of ‘free’ cash, but the small print undermines the value on offer here.
As we mentioned in the intro Casino Mate was, in a former life, a Microgaming casino. Nowadays, several other providers – BetSoft, Play’n Go and Quickspin – have been added to the mix in order to ensure Aussie gamers still have plenty of choices.
All this means that the selection on offer at Casino Mate is an extremely large one. We counted over 750 games in a highly impressive library.
You can’t really argue with those kinds of numbers – there are plenty of games to choose from, with something for pretty much everyone available here.
Here are some of the top slots on offer:
- Jurassic Park
- Big Bad Wolf
- Sticky Bandits
You’ll find a selection of progressive jackpot slots to choose from, too, including:
- Mega Moolah
- Mr. Vegas
- Greedy Goblins
There are plenty of table games on offer for the those who prefer traditional casino games, including usual suspects like Roulette, Blackjack, and Craps, as well as some more esoteric options, like Pai Gow Poker and Red Dog.
You won’t, however, find any live casino games here. Considering the sheer size of the library, this is something of a surprise. Microgaming do of course offer a suite of live casino games, so we would have expected to see something in this space.
What about mobile?
There’s no dedicated mobile app, but there is a mobile-optimized version of the Casino Mate website, where you’ll be able to play the majority of their games online.
Deposits at Casino Mate can be made by:
- Visa, Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill, Instadebit, iDebit, Paysafe Card, ecoPayz, Neosurf, UPayCard
And withdrawals by:
- Visa, Neteller, Skrill, Instadebit, ecoPayz, Bank Transfer, UPayCard
EWallets are quickest (instant!), while bank transfers and debit/credit cards are slowest (3-5 business days). Pending times are 0-24 hours.
It’s a mixed bag here – Ewallets are processed with lightning speed, but you’ll have to wait a little longer than average if you’re using a different withdrawal method, particularly if trying to withdraw close to the weekend.
You’ll find a range of support channels open to you at Casino Mate, all available 24/7.
Get in touch via:
- Email, live chat, or phone.
We’ve heard a lot of good things about the support service on offer here – rapid response times and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Just what we like to see. Good on ya, Casino Mate.
The Australian focus at Casino Mate hits you from the moment the homepage loads up, but this doesn’t mean that online gamblers from other countries won’t enjoy what’s on offer here. We found the liberal use of Aussie slang to be quite endearing, and we positively jumped at the chance to try our hand at the ‘pokies’.
The site itself is reasonably easy to use – not the most polished experience we’ve ever had, but not bad either.
As for those ‘pokies’ (and traditional casino games), there’s a huge library to choose from – over 750 games. It’s a fantastic collection from some great software providers, and it’s hard to imagine a gamer who couldn’t find something to enjoy here.
The one stumbling block is the lack of a live casino. This feature is becoming so common these days that it’s a surprising omission, particularly when viewed alongside the sheer number of other options. Of course, this is only an issue if you actually care about live games – the rest of the offering is fantastic.
We’ve been delighted to hear so much positive feedback on the support front. It’s a simple thing, but one that many casinos get wrong.
What about the negatives?
We were disappointed with the new customer promotion. High rollers will be able to extract €1400 bonus cash, which is great, but the wagering requirements are high, and the capped limit on wins is something we really can’t get behind.
It’s also worth noting that the restricted territories list includes a few notable entries, such as the UK, Ireland, the US, France, and Denmark.
So, what’s the verdict?
We’re comfortable recommending Casino Mate. The Aussie twist is something a little bit different, and there’s a huge library of games from some great providers. There are more refined online casinos out there, but overall Casino Mate is a good place to spin a few reels on the ‘pokies’.
What We Loved
- Massive game library
- Unique ‘Aussie’ theme
- Great support service
What We Didn’t Like
- Not the most polished UI / presentation
- No live casino
- Promising new customer promotion undermined by too much small print
Casino Mate Review 2019
- Overall - 8.1/108.1/10
With a ton of games to choose from and a quirky Aussie theme, we rate Casino Mate this well!
